Mini Swimmers makes a splash at York’s Emperors Gym
Mini Swimmers have been teaching swimming to babies in Ripon for over two years and is set to start classes at the award-wining Emperors Health & Fitness Club in the heart of York.
Mini Swimmers teach babies, toddlers and pre-school children to swim in a fun and safe environment to give them water confidence along with techniques to develop the core skills which could save their life. Lessons are structured into key activities, songs and fun for both the kids and parents so that no one feels like it is a lesson.
Owner, Elaine Ives, was once a competitive swimmer but as a Mum herself she saw the benefits of teaching your child to swim. She commented…
“The job satisfaction is second to none when you see the special bond growing between parent and child in the water. And when a child takes their first tentative strokes to swim independently I feel as proud as the parents!”
Classes are not just for the gym’s private members and as a recent survey1 discovered, swim classes are also extremely popular, with nearly 70% of new parents taking their little ones to classes, which teach babies to feel at ease both above and below the water.
Lindsay Franks joins the Mini Swimmers team to teach the classes in York. As an experienced baby and pre-school swimming teacher, she says…
“We are delighted to be working with Emperors Gym as its such a great friendly environment to teach in.”
Lindsay and Elaine met several years before whilst Elaine was undergoing her swimming training qualifications and having stayed firm friends, they are pleased to be able to work together and push Mini Swimmers forward.
Ripon classes are on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
York classes will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
